opportunities for the entire family to enjoy.

The
Delaware Bay; the Maurice, Cohansey, and Manumuskin rivers; and our many lakes
and streams provide plenty of chances to sail, fish, canoe, powerboat, or just
swim and relax. These pristine waterways also provide excellent opportunities
for the fast-growing pastime of bird watching, where you can enjoy eagles, hawks,
osprey, and other avian life in their natural environment. Animal lovers can
also
enjoy New Jersey's first zoo, the Cohanzick Zoo. It features hundreds of varieties
of animals for the young and old to enjoy.

In Addition to its wonderful climate, Cumberland County features more than 50,000
acres of public parks and permanently protected open space that provides visitors
with a place to play, and well as enjoy the natural beauty of Southern New Jersey.
The parks and woodland areas offer a variety of outdoor recreation options including
jogging, in-line skating, golf, tennis, soccer, picnicking, or the chance to take
a peaceful stroll.
Part of what makes Cumberland County unique is our diverse cultural heritage.
Throughout the year, many festivals and events are held. Traditional foods,
music, and celebrations from their ancestral homes make the festivals entertaining
and informative. In addition, they offer the opportunity to share traditions
with members of other ethnic groups.
Cumberland County abounds with history. You can enter another era in historic
Bridgeton, Greenwich, and Mauricetown. In addition to reliving events that shaped
Cumberland County and New Jersey, you can browse through a variety of unique
antique and specialty shops.

There
are a number of museums, many of which are free, to peak your interest. For example,
the internationally renowned Museum of American Glass, The Gibbon House, the Pre-Historic
Museum, and the Swedish Granary in Greenwich and Mauricetown, you can learn about
the rich maritime history of Southern New Jersey. The George Woodruff Indian Museum
in Bridgetown offers the chance to learn about the first inhabitants of the region,
the Lenni-Lenape Indians. The Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center depicts
the history of Japanese Americans and the hardship they suffered during World
War II. Sports fans can visit the South Jersey All Sports Museum in Bridgetown,
and see Willie Mays' Golden Glove and many other exhibits.
